This recognition means that our school has gone through extensive assessments by the Illinois State Board of Education to show we are meeting all the standards compelled of public schools in the state in terms of the quality of education the students are receiving along with the personnel and facilities meeting a standard set by the state. It also means that our students have an easier time being admitted into other schools when they leave our programs.
This is a voluntary process that takes several years to complete. Through accreditation “every aspect of the school is examined and documented, including governance, curriculum, fiscal and personnel policies, facilities, health and safety practices, teacher preparation and learner outcomes.” This certification indicates that our programs align with the core tenets of authentic Montessori education. We maintain this certification through continuous internal evaluation and active collaboration with our governing organization. In addition, because AMS is accredited by the National Council for Private School Accreditation, our school gains accreditation by the NCPSA.
The Gold Circle of Quality programs meet or exceed specific quality benchmarks on learning environment, instructional quality, and all program administrative standards; group size and staff/child ratios; staff qualifications; and professional development. Through ExceleRate we have access to training resources and consultants.
Department of Child and Family Services has licensed our Toddler Program and we adhere to their strict guidelines in all aspects of programming for our youngest students.
